Refuse Collection Centers


BEGINNING WEDNESDAY, MARCH 1ST, 2017, RESIDENTS MAY DISPOSE MATERIAL UP TO 12 TIMES PER CALENDAR YEAR

Refuse Collection Centers are convenient locations for City of Chattanooga residents to dispose of bulky trash items generated from their households in which they reside. Some items may not be eligible for curbside collection.

Hours of Operation
Monday - Friday 10:00a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Sunday 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Closed on the following holidays:
New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King’s Birthday (Third Monday in January), Good Friday, Easter, Memorial Day, Juneteenth,  Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.

*This list is not all-inclusive. Other items not listed which may be hazardous to collection employees, the public, the environment, or collection equipment will not be accepted.

Other Guidelines

  • No tandem axle trailers, dump bodies, or trucks larger than a standard pickup truck are allowed.
  • No contractors, businesses, or landlords allowed.
  • Any refuse being dumped should not exceed a standard truck bed load.
  • Effective March 1st, 2017, residents may dispose of material up to 12 times a calendar year (January-December).
  • The driver must have a valid driver's licenses showing City of Chattanooga residency (If new to the City and driver's licenses are not changed over, must show utility bill (electric or water) showing City residency
  • Must have valid Hamilton County Tags to dump
  • No commercial tags
  • Attendant has the right to refuse your load
  • Residents are limited to 8 bags per visit

Household Hazardous Waste
Household hazardous waste items such as cleaning liquids, automotive fluids, insecticides, propane  tanks, batteries, and adhesives may be taken to the household hazardous waste facility at 4063 North Hawthorne Street.  The facility is open Tuesday through Saturday from 8:00am to 3:00pm. Closed daily 11:30am to 12:00pm.
