Our mission is to create a fair and inclusive environment that actively seeks, supports, and partners with diverse suppliers. We aim to enhance economic opportunities, foster community growth, and ensure equitable access to city contracts and resources through transparent practices, education, and continuous engagement.

To champion a vibrant and inclusive local economy by empowering diverse suppliers through equitable access, support, and opportunities within the city.

Responsibilities

Collaboration and Strategy Development:

  • Responsibility: Work closely with the City’s Department of Purchasing to develop and implement strategies aimed at increasing the participation of minority-owned businesses in City-issued  Bids, Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and Requests for Qualifications (RFQs)

  • Goal: Achieve a measurable increase in the number of minority-owned businesses successfully competing for and winning City contracts

Outreach and Relationship Building:

  • Responsibility: Develop and execute outreach strategies to build and strengthen relationships with diverse suppliers and create networking opportunities

  • Goal: Build strong, sustainable relationships with diverse suppliers and the broader business community through continuous outreach and engagement activities

Event Coordination and Promotion:

  • Responsibility: Actively engage in the planning and execution of events that promote and recognize supplier diversity efforts

  • Goal: Raise awareness and recognition of supplier diversity initiatives, highlighting successful partnerships and impactful programs

Data Management and Reporting:

  • Responsibility: Compile and maintain a comprehensive list of minority-owned firms, and prepare and present reports on the progress and impact of supplier diversity efforts

  • Goal: Utilize data to monitor progress, identify trends, and inform strategic decisions, ensuring continuous improvement in supplier diversity efforts

Feedback and Improvement Support:

  • Responsibility: Provide constructive feedback to program participants and offer guidance to resolve issues and enhance supplier capabilities

  • Goal: Develop programs and resources that enhance the capabilities and competitiveness of minority-owned businesses in the procurement process

Leadership and Coordination:

  • Responsibility: Provide leadership and direction in the development of short and long-range plans, and coordinate activities with others
