City Auto Decal

Per City of Chattanooga Ordinance No. 8972, a $5.00 annual fee is required for motor vehicles where a certificate of registration and registration plates have been issued by the State of Tennessee to an address within the City of Chattanooga.  This includes, but not limited to, passenger automobiles, trucks, buses, straight vans, window vans, sports vans, pick-up trucks, taxi cabs, and all other motor vehicles.  Buses operated by the Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority, interstate trucks or carriers licensed by the Interstate Commerce Commission, motor vehicles registered to a governmental entity and two-wheel motor driven vehicles are exempt. 

Due to a recent change in the procedures for issuing the auto decals, starting August 14, 2014 renewals, the city decal will be combined with your regular decal.  When purchasing your decal and your address is located in the City of Chattanooga limits.  You will continue to pay the $5.00 fee and the decal will notate a "TP" (Tax Paid) to indicate a city sticker has been purchased.
