About Us
The Operations Division stands as the largest department within the organization. The Operations Division oversees the following divisions and supporting positions:
The City’s nine battalion chiefs manage three geographic districts with three daily shifts. With 399 uniformed personnel, this division staffs 20 Fire Stations.
These stations serve the entire city, which spans 145 square miles.
In addition to fire suppression, this division provides EMS response, disaster planning and management, and wildland fire response.
The men and women of the Operations Division also conduct pre-plan activities, annual hydrant inspections, and participate in numerous fire safety educational programs and community events around the city throughout the year.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the life safety of citizens through pre-planning, prompt response, and skilled mitigation of all incidents
- Ensure firefighter safety by providing the best training, tools and equipment available
- Support the continuous improvement of all members of the department through regular, scheduled training exercises as well as professional development opportunities
