Our Mission

Chattanooga Division of Transportation provides enhanced public space for a thriving community with safe, efficient, and accessible transportation options for all. Behind the day-to-day operations is constant asset management of the roadways, slopes, bridges, and sidewalks that compose our public space. The Chattanooga Division of Transportation oversees the design and implementation of asset maintenance and improvement projects, and review of private development for safety, accessibility, and connectivity.

Responsibilities

Create safe and equitable corridors for all Right-of-Way users.

Transportation manages the City-wide paving contracts, City owned bridges, roadways, sidewalks, traffic signals, pedestrian lighting, pavement markings, and traffic signs. We implement pedestrian safety initiatives by producing fiscally responsible projects implemented within the City's Right-of-ROW. Traffic Operations oversees development review, work zone closures, and street cuts.
