Our commitment to continuous improvement will bolster a reputation of excellence on environmental compliance, fiscal responsibility, and safety amongst our teammates and throughout the community.
Responsibilities
The Laboratory Division is responsible for providing all environmental testing for the City of Chattanooga. This includes testing of various samples from the wastewater plant and collection system, ambient water for the City's Water Quality Division, monitoring well samples from the landfills, and industrial samples for the Environmental Compliance Division. Test results are used to help monitor and regulate wastewater treatment processes, protect the plant from toxic wastes, solve environmental issues around the City, and to ensure compliance with applicable federal and State regulations. The laboratory plays a vital role in the protection of the streams, rivers, and City from harmful pollutants.
