Seasonal burning is allowed with a valid permit in Hamilton County from October 1st to April 30th of each year.

What Are The Requirements?

Burning permits are issued to individuals or businesses that are planning to burn less than two acres of brush in a burn season. Burning is limited to clean, raw, untreated, non-manufactured wood or natural vegetation.

County Burn Permit 
Burning  in Lakesite, Lookout Mountain, Signal Mountain, Soddy Daisy, Walden, or unincorporated Hamilton County.

City Burn Permit
Burning within the city limits of Chattanooga, Collegedale, East Ridge, Red Bank, or Ridgeside. An inspection is required before a permit will be issued.

Controlled Burn Permit
For individuals or businesses planning to burn more than two acres of material. An inspection is required.

Burn Permit Application for Credit Card Payments 
A 2.35% (minimum $1.49) service fee will be added to the permit fee.
A burn permit must be issued before burning is allowed.
