Electrical License Journeyman - Sign

A Journeyman Sign Electrician is one who works under the general supervision of a Master Electrician or Master Sign Electrician, on behalf of an electrical sign contractor, and installs, maintains, extends, connects or reconnects an electrical wiring system and its appurtenances, apparatus or equipment used in connection with signs, outline lighting, awnings, signals, light emitting diodes, and the repair of existing outdoor electrical discharge lighting, including parking lot pole lighting. Also includes the installation of an electrical service integral to an isolated sign and/or outline lighting installation.

Permit Expiration:

License expiration every 2 years on even year dates.

What Are The Requirements?

Any person shall be eligible for the examination as a class III electrical sign contractor who:

Is an owner, manager or supervisor of an electrical sign company; and Knows and will conform to the rules and regulations of this article and other ordinances regarding installing and erecting of electrical signs.

How Do I Renew?

Applicant will get an email before the license will expire. They can also see the expiration date on their license.

How Do I Apply?

Go to Open Gov Portal and register a free account.

Once logged in they can scroll down till you see Trade Licensing (icon is a person in a yellow vest and hard hat).

Once you click on that scroll down till you see the electrical license Journeyman.

Click select and follow the next 6 steps.

Once you hit submit the license clerks will look at the information given and get back with either needing more information or the testing information.
