Photo Enforcement
The City of Chattanooga began issuing tickets on July 16, 2007, from speed cameras installed in the Hixson Pike S curves. The goal is to reduce the number of accidents through this 24-hour speed enforcement program. The speed cameras photograph speeding vehicles and the vehicle's owner is mailed a citation.
Chattanooga's red light enforcement program began in December 2007. Nearly 1,000 people lose their lives every year in the US due to red-light violators. Automated red light enforcement cameras are installed for the following high accident intersections:
Highway 153 at Gadd Road- northbound approach
Highway 153 at Hamill Road- northbound approach
The Automated Enforcement Program is managed by the Department of Technology Services - Intelligent Cities Division.
