The Operations Division stands as the largest department within the organization. The Operations Division oversees the following divisions and supporting positions:
- Special Operations
- Training
- Technical Services
- Records
- Battalion Chiefs
- EMS
The City’s nine battalion chiefs manage three geographic districts with three daily shifts. With 399 uniformed personnel, this division staffs 20 fire stations across Chattanooga. These stations serve the entire city, which spans 145 square miles.
In addition to fire suppression, this division provides EMS response, disaster planning and management, and wildland fire response.
The men and women of the Operations Division also conduct pre-plan activities, annual hydrant inspections, and participate in numerous fire safety educational programs and community events around the city throughout the year.
