The duties of the Tree Commission are studying urban tree problems and making policy recommendations, educational outreach to citizens, reporting to city officials and the City Council, and hearing appeals of City Forester decisions.

As part of these duties, the Tree Commission organizes an annual Arbor Day volunteer tree [link to Programs page] planting event, partnering with community organizations to expand tree cover in all parts of the city.

The Tree Commission also administers the Notable Trees Program.  More information and nominating forms are here.
