Details: Chattanooga Police responded to a call of a shooting. The following are the preliminary details of the incident.

• Chattanooga Police are investigating the shooting death of a 17-year-old male.
• Police were told the teen was shot after a suspicious vehicle drove through the area and opened fire.
• Responding officers performed life-saving measures on the teen but his injuries were too extensive and he died shortly thereafter.
• Investigators are actively working the case and no additional information is available.

UPDATE:

Clarifying last night’s release on the 17-year-old who was fatally wounded.

• The incident location was 3700 Highland Avenue rather than 278 Water Street as originally sent in the release above.
• There was only one shooting incident, not two. It occurred at 8:57 pm at the above Highland Avenue address. The Water Street address is nearby, but is not where the incident occurred.
• There’s no suspect information to share since police are still investigating the incident, but it appears to
  have been a targeted incident and there is no perceived threat to the general public from it.
