CHATTANOOGA, TN. – The Chattanooga Police Department is hosting the United States Police Canine Association (USPCA) Region 22 Mini-Trials at the Police Shooting Range on Moccasin Bend this Wednesday and Thursday.

The USPCA was founded in 1971 and certifies K9s across the country and is the nation’s largest police K9 organization. The trials will test 21 officers and K-9s from 9 departments in Tennessee and Alabama on narcotics detection and patrol, including a series of different obedience commands that both the handler and K-9 must be able to complete.

CHATTANOOGA, TN. – Chattanooga Police were able to help Douglas County, Georgia, sheriff’s investigators and other state and federal agencies close a home invasion murder case from June of last year, assisting in the capture of one of four fugitives.

CHATTANOOGA, TN. – Chattanooga Police are investigating an overnight shooting on Long Street.

Officers responded to a robbery call in the 2700 block of Long Street at 12:17 this morning. They found a 30-year-old man inside a residence who told them he had been assaulted and shot by two women he didn’t know who took his cell phone. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators continue to collect evidence, but no arrest has yet been made.

CHATTANOOGA, TN. – Chattanooga Police responded to a fatal shooting on Water Street late Friday night.

The call was dispatched to the 200 block of Water Street at 10:54 pm. When officers arrived, they found a 26-year-old man outside a residence dead from a gunshot wound. His next of kin is being notified.

No one has been arrested yet and the investigation is continuing.

CHATTANOOGA, TN. – Over three dozen officers from the Chattanooga Police Department and other agencies received certificates from the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Training School this afternoon in a ceremony at the Family Justice Center in Chattanooga.

CIT training is designed to improve officers’ understanding of mental illness and communication skills, helping officers better deal with mental health crises they find when they respond to calls.
