1-3-18 Firefighters Stop Fire at Self Storage Building
Chattanooga, Tenn. -- The Hamilton County 911 Emergency Communications District received multiple calls from motorists on Highway 153 around 1:00 this afternoon, reporting that there was a large fire at the self-storage buildings on Polymer Drive. Six fire companies with the Chattanooga Fire Department responded to Public Storage at 2200 Polymer Drive. Captain Terri Roshell with Quint 8 said three of the storage units on one end of Building A were fully engulfed in flames, and the fire was spreading rapidly.
1-2-18 Victim Identified in Last Week's Fatal Fire
Chattanooga, Tenn. -- The victim who died in a house fire at 4605 Plaza Hills Drive on December 29, 2017 has been identified as James Young. He was 50 years old. The Hamilton County Medical Examiner's Office says Young died from smoke inhalation.
1-1-18 Overnight Residential Fire, First Fire of the Year for CFD
An early morning fire in Brainerd was the first of the year for the CFD. The call came in at 1:58 AM as a vehicle fire with structural endangerment at 5600 Old Mission rd. Squad 13 was first on the scene. Captain Kieth Liles reported a fully involved vehicle with flames moving into the house. Additional companies were dispatched. Quint 13 secured a water supply from a nearby hydrant and the fire was quickly controlled and extinguished. Squad 1, Engine 15, and Quint 6 assisted. There were no injuries. The cause is under investigation.
12-30-17 Residential Fire in Brainerd
Chattanooga, Tenn. -- Chattanooga firefighters responded to a house fire at 3325 Idlewild Drive at 10:39 p.m. this evening. Firefighters from Engine 5 arrived to find smoke showing and located a working fire in a bedroom of the residence. The fire was rendered, under control within 5 minutes. With a total of five fire companies on scene, the fire was contained to the bedroom. No one was injured, however, a family of four (one male and three children) was displaced. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
12-30-17 Early Morning Kitchen Fire
At 4:02 AM Chattanooga Fire Department units were dispatched to 2934 Lightfoot Mill rd. on a reported structure fire with all residents outside the building. Engine 4 arrived on scene and reported smoke and flames in the front door. Firefighters on Engine 4 and Quint 4 made an aggressive interior attack put the fire out quickly. The damage was mostly contained to the kitchen. No one was home when firefighters arrived. Quint 6 and Quint 10 were on scene as well. The cause is under investigation.
