04-14-2013 Firefighters Save Commercial Building

Battalion Chief Rick Boatwright said the firefighters had to remove the security bars from the doors to gain entry to the building to start an interior attack. Once inside the building, the fire was quickly contained to the attic area of the structure. No injuries were reported.

Chief Boatwright said the structure sustained smoke and water damage throughout, with the majority of the fire damage contained to the attic area. Lt. Andrew Waters with the Fire Investigation Division ruled the cause of the fire as accidental. Chief Boatwright said the dollar loss was estimated at $12,000.

Chattanooga police, Hamilton County EMS and EPB also provided valuable assistance on the scene.
