The Department of Community Development's top priority is providing a better quality of life for the citizens of Chattanooga by focusing on enhancing the minds through recreation that builds character, offering crisis assistance and support services to families in need, and most of all, by building and maintaining the neighboring communities through our various neighborhood services.
This department is divided into 4 major divisions:
Code Enforcement
Report a violation, contact 311, and learn public health, safety, and welfare requirements, code cases, and demolition hearings. FAQs
Community Centers
18 community centers, 3 civic and senior centers open to Chattanooga residents. Find educational programs, various social and recreational activities, rental space, and more. Youth, adults, and seniors are welcome. FAQs
Neighborhood Services
Find your neighborhood association, engage in community groups, and participate in roundtables with your local leaders. FAQs
Office of Family Empowerment
Apply for rental/mortgage assistance and utility and water assistance. Learn about educational and financial resources. FAQs
