07-10-2013 Firefighters Respond to 2nd Fire Today

At approximately 1:30 pm, the Chattanooga Fire Department received an alarm for a possible structure fire at 4218 Quinn Adams Street in the Alton Park neighborhood.

Upon arrival at the scene Captain David Barie with Engine 9 reported light smoke conditions on the single story residence. Captain Barie directed fire crews to make an initial attack on the fire as well as performing search operations on the house to determine if anyone was inside the structure.

Fire crews made a quick interior fire attack and had the fire contained within approximately 15 minutes. Fire companies performing the search of the structure determined that there were no parties inside the residence.

At this time, no determination has been made to the origin of the fire or to the estimated dollar loss on the structure. The fire department responded with four fire companies on the initial alarm and added an additional fire company due to the high heat conditions. No injuries were reported.

The occupants were reportedly not home at the time of the fire and attempts were being made to notify them. The Chattanooga Police Department also provided assistance on the scene.

The first fire today occurred at 2410 Kirby Avenue.
