04-01-14 Kitchen Fire Sends One Man to the Hospital

That neighbor told firefighters that he went into the house and helped two people out to the yard. By then, Chattanooga firefighters arrived on the scene. Battalion Chief Chris Willmore said the firefighters were able to contain most of the fire damage to the kitchen area.

Paramedics with Hamilton County EMS checked out all three individuals who were in the house when it was on fire. EMS transported one of the individuals to a local hospital for smoke inhalation. The other two declined to be transported.

Details on what exactly happened are still being gathered by Lt. Henry McElvain with the Fire Investigation Division. Lt. McElvain said the cause of the fire will be ruled accidental, due to food being left unattended on the stove.
