06-19-14 Overnight Fire Intentionally Set

The first firefighters on the scene reported visible smoke and flames coming from the rear of the structure. Captain Thorne said the firefighters had to forced their way into the house and then attacked the fire quickly.

The fire was beginning to extend into the attic, but the firefighters were able to head it off and contain the blaze to the rear of the house. No injuries were reported. The dollar loss was estimated at $25,000.

As for the cause of the fire, Lt. Andrew Waters with the Fire Investigation Division believes it is arson. The house has been unoccupied for about two years and appeared to be in the process of being remodeled. There was no power to the structure. The investigation will be ongoing.
