10-23-14 Firefighters Respond to Vacant House Fire

The house was fully engulfed in flames and could not be saved, so firefighters concentrated their efforts on suppressing the fire and keeping it from spreading to nearby houses. Captain Smith said the intense heat melted some of the siding and soffit materials on one neighboring house, but the damage was limited.

The house at 2014 Wilson Street was totally destroyed, with the dollar loss estimated at $60,000. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Chattanooga police and Hamilton County EMS also provided valuable assistance on the scene.
