06-16-15 Firefighters Put Out Fire on Loading Dock

The firefighters got the call at 6:56 p.m. and responded to the scene with four fire companies.

Captain Travis Williams, the incident commander, said the fire was located on the loading dock on the back of the building. Captain Williams said rubber bumpers and related materials on the loading dock were on fire. It only took the firefighters 10 to 15 minutes to get the fire out. The fire never got into the building, which is currently vacant. The dollar loss was estimated at $10,000.

Captain Williams said eyewitnesses saw some kids running away from the building shortly before smoke was noticed. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Chattanooga police and Hamilton County EMS also provided assistance on the scene.
