09-07-15 No Injuries in House Fire


Incident Commander Captain David Peace said the first firefighters who arrived made a quick interior attack. Four other fire companies quickly arrived on scene thereafter to assist. The firefighters attacked the fire quickly with hand-held hoselines and got the fire under control in about 30 minutes. Captain Peace said there was very significant fire damage to the interior living/dining quarters, but the rest of the home had smoke and water damage. There was also a beauty shop inside the residence that sustained heavy damage due to smoke, fire, and water damage. No injuries were reported.

There was reportedly no one in the home at the time of the fire, but were quickly contacted by neighbors. Details are limited to the resident discarded some smoldering combustible cooking materials into a container adjacent to the structure. The Red Cross, Hamilton County EMS, Chattanooga police and EPB also provided assistance on the scene.

The estimated dollars loss was about $150,000 for contents and about $130,000 for property damage.
