08-25-16 Morning Fire Displaces Family of Three

He told firefighters that he woke up his brother and both got out of the house uninjured. They did not have their phones with them, so they had to go to a neighbor's house, wake up the residents and call 911.

By the time Chattanooga firefighters received the alarm and arrived on the scene, most of the house was on fire and flames were shooting out the eves in the attic. Battalion Chief Lesley Morgan said it took firefighters from five fire companies about 20 minutes to get the blaze under control.

Chief Morgan said the house was considered a total loss, with damages estimated at $68.000. The boy's mother was away at work at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Volunteers with the American Red Cross of Southeast Tennessee responded to the scene to provide assistance to the fire victims. Chattanooga police and Hamilton County EMS also provided assistance on the scene.
