10-12-16 Fire Forces Evacuation of Lee Highway Businesses

When the first arriving companies confirmed that smoke was visible coming from the Epic Sports Bar and Grill, Battalion Chief Jeff Eldridge called for a second alarm response to bring in six additional fire companies. Fortunately, they were not needed. The first arriving firefighters found the fire in a storage room adjacent to the restaurant's kitchen. The fire was quickly extinguished, minimizing the fire damage to the restaurant and the rest of the businesses in the three-story business complex.

Chief Eldridge ordered an evacuation of the businesses adjacent to the restaurant as a precaution. No injuries were reported. An estimate on the dollar loss was not available. The cause of the fire is undetermined and under investigation.
