3-1-17 Pedestrian Struck/Fatality - 5200 block Hwy 153

At 4:35 a.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 Chattanooga Police responded to a Pedestrian Struck in the 5200 block of Highway 153 North. The following are the preliminary facts of that investigation:

• The crash involved a blue Dodge Challenger (Vehicle #1) and a pedestrian
• The driver of Vehicle #1 was traveling north on Hwy 153 in the left travel lane
• As Vehicle #1 approached the 5200 block, a pedestrian crossed from east to west on Hwy 153
• The driver of Vehicle #1 stated that he did not see the pedestrian until it was too late
• The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries
• Witnesses stated that driver had no time to react when pedestrian ran across the highway
• There are no street lights in that area

Chattanooga Traffic Division are actively investigating this crash and will be following all actionable leads
