3-29-17 Shooting/Officer Involved


At 1:26 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, Chattanooga Police were called to a home in the 300 block of Shawnee Trail for a disorder with a weapon involved. The following are the preliminary facts of the investigation:

  • Hamilton County 911 received a call for a disorder with a weapon involved
  • Hamilton County 911 also reported to CPD officers that one shot was fired prior to officers arrival on scene
  • Upon arrival CPD officers encountered two off duty CPD officers that left the residence
  • Other CPD officers encountered an armed suspect outside the home
  • During that encounter CPD officers were forced to shoot the armed suspect
  • CPD officers began to administer medical aid to suspect while waiting for an ambulance
  • Suspect was transported by Hamilton County EMS
  • Suspect succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital
  • It was determined the suspect was a Hamilton County Sheriffs Office employee
  • Hamilton County Sheriffs Office, Hamilton County District Attorney's Office have been notified
  • TBI is the lead investigating agency

Chattanooga Police ask anyone with information regarding this incident to call 423-698-2525. The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when available.
