6-3-18 Arrest/Homicide - 7700 block E. Brainerd Rd.

• Upon arrival, police were able to locate a resident of the home suffering from a gunshot wound
• HCEMS arrived to transport the victim to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries
• Suspect, also a resident of the home, remained on scene and was interviewed by investigators
• After interviewing the suspect and reviewing evidence, investigators determined the suspect's gross negligent handling of a loaded firearm led to the victim's death
• Members of the Violent Crime Bureau are actively investigating this incident.

Cody N. Gilliland (male, 29)

Charges:

Criminally Negligent Homicide
