6-3-19 UPDATE: ARREST/6-2-19 Aggravated Assault / Shooting - 2024 East 23rd St

Burton is a suspect in a shooting incident that occurred at approximately 4:01 a.m. on June 2, 2019 at 2024 E. 23rd Street. Two victims from that incident, one a Chattanooga Police Officer, are recovering from non-fatal gunshot wounds.

Chattanooga Police would like to thank the following agencies for their assistance: U.S. Marshals, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, & Explosives, Hamilton County Fugitive Unit, and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

On June 2, 2019 at approximately 4:01 a.m., Chattanooga Police responded to the Waffle House at 2024 East 23rd Street on a report of an Officer who had been shot.

• Upon arrival, Police located two persons who had been shot, including a Chattanooga Police Officer.
• Hamilton County EMS responded to the scene.
• Both parties were taken to a local hospital.
• Police secured the scene and called for the CPD Violent Crimes Bureau to respond. Investigators were able to determine that the Officer observed a disorder occurring in the parking lot and exited the Waffle House to break it up.
• Upon exiting, the Officer observed a female holding a gun and attempted to disarm her and was shot in the process.
• When the gun discharged, a second male was also struck.
• Police were able to identify the suspect as Brandi Burton.
• Warrants have been taken out on the suspect for Aggravated Assault (2x) and Reckless Endangerment (1x).Chattanooga
