7-1-19 Fatal Traffic Crash - 500 South Holtzclaw Avenue


 

On July 1, 2019 at approximately 12:24 p.m., the Chattanooga Police Traffic Division responded to 500 South Holtzclaw Avenue on a report of a fatal motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival, the following information was obtained through observation, interview, and investigation.

  • Vehicle #1 (Ford Taurus) was traveling south on S. Holtzclaw Ave when the driver failed to stop for a red light and entered the intersection of S. Holtzclaw Ave and Bailey Ave.
  • Vehicle #2 (Volvo S60) was traveling west on Bailey Ave and struck Vehicle #1 in a "t-bone" manner when it entered the intersection.
  • Vehicle #2 had the green light at the time of this collision.
  • Hamilton County EMS responded to the scene and pronounced Driver #1 deceased on the scene.
  • Driver #2 was transported to a local hospital.
  • At this time, no charges are being filed against Driver #2.
  • Chattanooga Police ask anyone with information regarding this incident to call 423-698-2525 or submit a tip via the CPD Mobile App. You can remain anonymous.

Jerome Golson (Male, 62)

The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when available.
