8-20-19 Fatal Traffic Crash - 7500 Lee Highway

On August 20, 2019 at approximately 9:01 a.m., Chattanooga Police were notified of a serious traffic crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle at 7500 Lee Highway. The CPD Traffic / DUI Unit responded to the scene. The following information was obtained through interview, observation, and investigation:

• Vehicle #1 (GMC Acadia) was traveling south on Lee Highway and merged into the center lane with the intention of turning left onto Walker Road.
• Vehicle #2 (Honda Shadow) was traveling north on Lee Highway approaching the Walker Road intersection.
• Vehicle #1 turned left in front of Vehicle #2.
• Vehicle #2 struck the front right side of Vehicle #1.
• Hamilton County EMS responded to the scene and transported the rider to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
• Driver of Vehicle #1 was issued a citation in lieu of arrest for the charge, Failure to Yield Right of Way (Accident Resulting in the Death of Another).

Driver #2 (Deceased):

Name withheld pending notification of next of kin. (Male, 55)
