1-15-22 Traffic Fatality - 340 I-75 North

Vehicle #1 (GMC) was traveling North on I-75 near the East Brainerd Rd exit when the vehicle became disabled.
Driver #1 left the vehicle in the lane of travel and then exited the vehicle and walked over to the median.
Vehicle #2 (Toyota Corolla) was also traveling North in the same lane of travel and was unable to avoid vehicle #1 striking it in the rear.
Vehicle #3 (Toyota T100), also traveling North, observed the brake lights ahead and veered left to attempt to avoid the crash. In doing so Vehicle #3 struck Driver #1 who was still standing by the median.
Driver #1 was pronounced deceased on scene by Hamilton County EMS.
Driver #2 was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Several other vehicles were involved but no other injuries were reported.

The investigation is ongoing and will continue in a logical manner.
