On Saturday at Enterprise Park South, a party fell off a horse and needed the help of first responders. Ladder 7, Battalion 2, and Squad 7 (Blue Shift) personnel responded with a Gator UTV. Brush Truck 10 brought their Gator for additional equipment. Hamilton County EMS and a park ranger were also part of the operation. The patient was located approximately a mile and a half down the path. She was alert and conscious with a head injury. The patient was loaded onto the Gator and a backboard. She was brought out first and loaded into the ambulance to be transported to the hospital. First responders then exited the park with two horses, one of which was rode by Firefighter Dolberry.

Chattanooga firefighters worked a motor vehicle crash with entrapment Saturday night on Interstate 75. Blue Shift crews responded at 6:15 PM and got to work on the extrication. The patient was alert and conscious the whole time. He was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.

At 7:19 AM on Thursday (5/19/22), CFD Engine 9 and Tanker 3, along with East Ridge companies, responded to a vehicle fire on Interstate 24 EB at the Ridge Cut on Missionary Ridge. Two cars were fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and by 8 AM, it was out. Fire officials on the scene said the blaze was caused by a crash. One of the cars hit the other car from behind and it caused a fuel tank rupture, which ignited and caught both vehicles on fire. There were no injuries. Everyone was out of the vehicles on arrival. Traffic cameras captured fire units responding and putting the fire out. The eastbound lanes were shut down while emergency crews handled the incident. We understand that this created traffic backups on a major roadway and we appreciate drivers’ patience as first responders worked diligently to tackle the fire and clear the scene, making it once again safe for travel.
