Chattanooga, Tenn. -- At 12:37 PM today, the Chattanooga Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 601 N. Germantown Rd. Four fire companies responded. The fire had been extinguished by the occupants, but the kitchen had substantial damage. No one was injured. The cause of the fire has been been ruled accidental, most likely from food being left unattended on the stove. Red Cross was notified to assist the family affected.

Chattanooga, Tenn. -- Chattanooga firefighters who responded to the Woodmore Bus Crash on November 21, 2016 were recognized for their efforts today by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security. The recognition is normally reserved for one first responder, but in this case they made an exception. At their First Responder Recognition Ceremony, held every year on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, Homeland Security Commissioner David Purkey presented the "Three Stars of Tennessee" award to Captain Keith Liles and eight other firefighters who were able to make the trip to the state capitol.

Chattanooga, Tenn. -- At 6:52 tonight, Chattanooga firefighters responded to a reported house fire at 3140 Hamill Road. Smoke from the fire could be seen for miles as fire companies from several stations responded. When the first firefighters arrived on the scene, Battalion Chief Chris Warren said the garage was engulfed in flames and fire had already broken through the roof over the garage.
