The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) announced the creation of a Virtual Ride Along program as a way to increase community connection and inclusion. 

The CPD Virtual Ride Along program is a creation of CPD Officer Sydney Hamon who’s been with the department since March, 2019. Ofc. Hamon came up with the idea in her rookie year after noticing a disconnect as social media friends were spending a lot of time talking at each other, but not listening to one another.

Update (6-25-21): Chattanooga Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the June 12, 2021 Homicide of Billy Burson. Desmond McKevie was taken into custody on Wednesday June 23rd and Garion Lewis was taken into custody last night. Lewis was apprehended through the collaborative efforts of CPD Fugitive Division, CPD Homicide Unit, U.S. Marshals, HCSO Fugitive Division and Sevier County Sheriff's Dept. Both suspects are charged with First Degree Murder and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
