10-6-19 Residents safe following O'Leary St. house fire
Five children and an adult safely escaped their burning home in the 5500 block of O’Leary Street.
Smoke was visible from the roof when CFD's crews arrived. They determined that all of the residents were out of the home and accounted for.
Firefighters made an interior attack and extinguished the fire. There was heavy smoke and heat damage to the interior.
The Red Cross was on scene to assist one adult and five children, ranging in age from 2-13.
Q14, E9, E1, L1, S1 HCEMS and CPD were on scene.
10-5-19 Former Chattanooga restaurant damaged by fire
Our crews have extinguished a fire at a vacant building on Bonny Oaks Drive.
We were called to the structure in the 6000 block around 4:45 PM.
It used to be Walt’s Restaurant and then AJ’s before it closed.
CFD arrived on scene and found heavy smoke coming from the front side of the building.
10-4-19 Family escapes burning home
Flames tore through a family's house in Chattanooga, but the relatives were able to get out of the burning structure safely.
It happened late Friday night in the 7000 block of Hamilton View Street.
Initial companies on the scene reported heavy fire. They pulled a hose line and started attacking the fire.
They learned that everyone was out of the burning home, including two adults and five children.
Other responding companies pulled an additional hose line to fully extinguish the fire.
They got the fire under control in 20 minutes.
Seven companies were on the scene.
The house was heavily damaged in the fire but thankfully, there were no injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Chattanooga Hamilton County Rescue Service was on the scene, as well as Hamilton County EMS, Red Cross and the Chattanooga Police Department.
10-4-19 Pallet fire seen for miles
Firefighters tackled a large plastic pallet fire behind Woodbridge Chattanooga Formed Plastics off Amnicola Highway.
The second alarm blaze on Lost Mound Drive started just before 4 PM. Hundreds of plastic pallets were burning and a large plume of smoke could be seen across the area.
10-3-19 Driver not injured in I-75 N tractor trailer fire
A semi truck driver’s cab was completely destroyed when it caught fire on I-75 N near the East Brainerd Road exit.
It caused trees on the side of the road to catch on fire.
CFD worked to get the tractor trailer fire extinguished and the brush fire put out using two quints, a squad and a tanker.
The driver was not injured.
The northbound lanes were totally shut down for 20 minutes, impacting traffic.
It’s not clear yet what caused the cab of the tractor trailer to catch on fire.
