12-20-2017 Arson Believed Cause of Morning Fire on Ocoee Street
Chattanooga, Tenn. -- A Chattanooga fire investigator believes this morning's house fire at 2604 Ocoee Street was deliberately set. No one was injured in that fire, but the house was considered a total loss.
12-20-2017 Fire Destroys Vacant House
Chattanooga, Tenn. -- Flames up to 30 feet high lit up the night sky in the Glenwood community this morning. Chattanooga firefighters received the alarm of a fire at 2604 Ocoee Street at 4:59 a.m. and responded with four fire companies. Captain Wadie Suttles with Engine 4 said they could see the flames from miles away as they rushed to the scene.
12-15-2017 Morning House Fire in Alton Park
Chattanooga, Tenn. -- No injuries were reported in connection with a house fire in Alton Park this morning. The Chattanooga Fire Department received the alarm around 8:30 a.m. and responded to 4020 Highland Avenue with five fire companies. When the first firefighters arrived on the scene, one of the residents of the house was concerned this his wife might still be inside. The firefighters quickly went inside and searched the house. Fortunately, his wife was not home.
12-14-2017 Fire Forces Evacuation of Local School
Chattanooga, Tenn. -- At 10:02 a.m. today the Chattanooga Fire Department was dispatched to a reported fire in the auditorium at Berean Academy at 331 Berean Lane in Hixson. Battalion Chief Don Bowman said the heating system caught fire inside the building, which activated the fire alarm system. Chief Bowman said the school staff did an excellent job of evacuating the school quickly and efficiently. No injuries were reported.
12-14-2017 Arson Expected in Morning House Fire
Chattanooga, Tenn. -- Chattanooga firefighters were dispatched to a reported structure fire around 5:40 a.m. today at 2707 N. Chamberlain Avenue. Captain David Brooks with Engine 4 said smoke and flames were visible when they arrived on the scene. The firefighters forced their way in through the front door, made an aggressive attack on the fire, and extinguished the flames quickly. No injuries were reported. Captain Brooks said no one was inside the structure, which was reportedly being used for storage.
Battalion Chief Chris Warren, the incident commander, said the fire caused approximately $20,000 in damages. A fire investigator says the cause of the fire is suspicious in nature. The investigation will continue. Chattanooga police and Hamilton County EMS also provided assistance on the scene.
