Chattanooga, Tenn. -- Chattanooga firefighters were dispatched to a duplex fire shortly after 7:00 this morning at 2601 Taylor Street. Battalion Chief Don Bowman said the fire was in the "A" side of the duplex. The occupants on both sides of the duplex got out safely. The firefighters located the fire in the floor underneath a woodburning stove. It took them less than 10 minutes to extinguish the fire.

UPDATE: The cause of this fire has been ruled accidental. The fire investigator says a candle started the fire this morning that injured one woman and left two people homeless.

Chattanooga, Tenn. -- Two women narrowly escaped serious injuries this morning when fire broke out in their home. The Chattanooga Fire Department received the alarm shortly before 9:00 this morning and responded to 4615 Old Mission Road with five fire companies. Captain Keith Liles with Squad 13 said smoke and flames were coming out the front window and front door when the first firefighters arrived on the scene. Both of the occupants were already outside.

Chattanooga, Tenn. -- One person was injured when fire broke out in a duplex last night in East Lake. The Chattanooga Fire Department received the alarm at 11:53 Wednesday night and responded to the 4800 block of General Thomas Boulevard with several fire companies. When the first firefighters arrived on the scene, Captain Chris Cordes with Engine 9 said a significant fire was located in the kitchen in Apartment A.
