Chattanooga, Tenn. -- At 5:03 p.m. today, the Chattanooga Fire Department was dispatched to a reported fire at the CoreCivic Silverdale Detention Facility on Standifer Gap Road. Captain Kevin Carpenter, the incident commander, said the fire was located in an individual jail cell. Chattanooga firefighters took in portable fire extinguishers and put the fire out in roughly five minutes.

As we reported in the news release (below), a family of six lived in the house that was destroyed this morning at 1048 Hurricane Creek Drive, including a husband, wife and four children. They lost everything in the fire and there are unconfirmed reports that they did not have insurance.

Chattanooga, Tenn. -- Shortly before 2:00 this afternoon, Chattanooga firefighters responded to a reported structure fire at 3501 Oak Ridge Drive. Battalion Chief Don Bowman said the fire was located in a breaker box on the outside of the structure. The fire was starting to spread to the garage and kitchen, but the firefighters attacked the fire quickly and had it out in less than ten minutes. No injuries were reported.

Chattanooga, Tenn. -- While some firefighters were still battling a large house fire on Magnolia Lake Drive that occurred earlier, the Chattanooga Fire Department received a report at 10:29 a.m. of another large fire at 1048 Hurricane Creek Road. Battalion Chief Travis Williams was the first on the scene and when he saw that the rear of the structure was engulfed in flames, requested a second alarm response to bring in additional firefighters and equipment.

Chattanooga, Tenn. -- At 2:35 this morning, Chattanooga firefighters were dispatched to an automatic fire alarm at 7860 Magnolia Lake Drive in the Legends subdivision. The first firefighters on the scene reported nothing visible. However, to be absolutely sure, they contacted the homeowner through the alarm company and gained access to the house. Once inside, they discovered a lot of smoke and confirmed that they had a working fire.
