On January 30, 2021 at approximately 2:36 a.m., Chattanooga Police were advised by dispatch that a party had arrived by private vehicle at a local hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. The following are the preliminary facts of the investigation:

UPDATE (3-3-21): Chattanooga Police have arrested a suspect in the January 31, 2021 homicide of Kenneth Trammell that occurred in the 800 block of Dodson Avenue. Melvin Evans is charged with Criminal Homicide and is in custody at the Hamilton County Jail.

On January 31, 2021 at approximately 3:25 a.m., Chattanooga Police were informed that a shooting had taken place on Dodson Ave. The following are the preliminary facts of the investigation:

Officers responded to the area and were able to determine the location of incident to be in the 800 block of Dodson Ave and subsequently secured the scene.

Hamilton County EMS transported the victim to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.
Investigators with the Violent Crimes Unit were then notified and responded to conduct an investigation.
The victim ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
