Paid Time Off (PTO) and Paid Holidays

Paid Time Off (PTO) allows employees flexibility in taking time off for vacations, family needs, illness, and any other reason you need to be away from work.  PTO combines vacation and sick leave into one leave bank – employees will earn PTO every biweekly pay period, and, with advance notice or in case of emergency, leave earned may be taken in increments as small as 15-minutes.  In addition, PTO has the following features:

  • Employees may carry over up to ten (10) days each year until they reach a maximum PTO balance of 100 days.
  • Employees are paid for their PTO when they leave employment "at the rate they are paid when they leave".

The City offers twelve (12) paid holidays and those holidays are:

  • New Year's Day
  • Martin Luther King Jr's Birthday
  • Good Friday
  • Memorial Day
  • Juneteenth Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Veteran's Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Friday after Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Eve
  • Christmas Day
