By the time someone called 911 Communications to report a fire at 3708 6th Avenue in East Lake around 1:30 this afternoon, Chattanooga firefighters at Station 9 already knew about it. Someone ran up to the station and said there was a fire just a few houses down the street.

Chattanooga firefighters responded to a fire shortly before 6:00 p.m. yesterday at Woodlawn Apartments at 2300 Wilson Street. Upon arrival, Captain David Brooks said they located the fire in the kitchen of Apartment 6-H.

The cause of yesterday's house fire at 3527 Taylor Street has been ruled accidental.

Routine work at ADM Milling at 1120 King Street turned into quite an ordeal for a contract worker at the plant around 11:00 this morning. While being lowered down by fellow workers approximately 90 feet into a grain silo, there was an equipment failure, and the employee had an arm broken when he was hit by a falling ladder.

Shortly after midnight, the Chattanooga Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident at 20 S. Germantown Rd. Battalion Chief Rick Boatwright said the initial reports advised that a car had struck a house and the car caught fire.
