Shortly after midnight, the Chattanooga Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident at 20 S. Germantown Rd. Battalion Chief Rick Boatwright said the initial reports advised that a car had struck a house and the car caught fire.

Shortly before 6:00 this morning, fire broke out in a home located at 3527 Taylor Street. The resident, Stephen Boudy, told firefighters that he woke to the smell of smoke. He said it was getting very hot, so he had to escape through his bedroom window, which is on the first floor (see attached photo).

Chattanooga fire investigators are trying to determine how a fire got started at a Brainerd gas station. The incident occurred shortly after 5:00 this afternoon at the Murphy USA gas station at 310 Greenway View Drive.

[Update] The victim from this morning's fire at Jaycee Towers has been identified as Frank Brannon. He is 63. Mr. Brannon suffered from smoke inhalation and had 2nd and 3rd degree burns to his hip.
