Around 2:00 this morning, Chattanooga firefighters were dispatched to a fire at the Country Hearth Inn and Suites at 101 E. 20th Street. Captain Scott McCullough, the incident commander, said the fire was located in a unit on the third floor.

Chattanooga firefighters are wrapping up a house fire tonight at 617 Colville Street. The Chattanooga Fire Department received the alarm around 8:00 p.m.

In keeping with the busy day, the Chattanooga Fire Department responded to another working fire this afternoon. At 5:18 pm, a fire was reported at the NWA Plastics Company located at 5910 Quintas Loop Road.

Kelly and Sandy Hicks left their home at 116 Norman Lane around noon this afternoon to run some errands. While driving on Signal Mountain Boulevard to get back home, they saw thick black smoke coming from their neighborhood. Mr. Hicks commented to his wife that he sure hoped it wasn't their house. Unfortunately, it was.

Chattanooga firefighters had to deal with a number of challenges when they were dispatched to a duplex fire around 6:30 this morning at 1507 Taylor Street. Deputy Chief Chris Adams said the first firefighters on the scene hooked up to the nearest hydrant, but that hydrant was frozen.
