On 12/24/2018 at approximately 11:40 p.m., Police were dispatched to the 900 block of Wheeler Ave on a report of a person shot.

UPDATE (12/21/18): The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) and other area law enforcement agencies are working together to increase impaired and distracted driving enforcement. Last night, December 20, 2018 the increased enforcement effort yielded 150 moving citations and 77 non-moving citations including:

Reckless Driving: 3
Due Care: 12
Speeding: 79
Driving Under the Influence (DUI): 8 Arrests

The increased enforcement action runs through 6:00 a.m. January 2, 2019.

UPDATE (12/28/18): Chattanooga Police have arrested the suspect from the December 13, 2018 shooting that took place in the 2100 block of Duncan Ave. Police have charged Malcolm Johnson (25) in the shooting of Wayne Weimer (57). Mr. Johnson was arrested and transported to the Hamilton County Jail.

Malcolm Johnson is charged with Attempted Murder, Especially Aggravated Robbery, and Aggravated Assault.

UPDATE (1/15/19):

The death of a 9-month-old that occurred on December 17, 2018 is ruled a Homicide. This determination was made based on the Chattanooga Police Department's investigation and the Hamilton County Medical Examiner's report. Chattanooga Police continue to investigate this homicide.

Chattanooga Police ask anyone with information regarding this incident to call the Homicide Tip Line at 423-643-5100 or submit an anonymous tip via the Chattanooga PD Mobile App. The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when available.
