Neighborhood Speed Watch Program

The City of Chattanooga’s Neighborhood Speed Watch Program (NSWP) has been established to give residents in the City a means to monitor and assess traffic speeds in their neighborhood. The NSWP is an extension of the Neighborhood Traffic Management Program (NTMP), an ongoing effort to resolve neighborhood traffic problems based on sound technical analysis and community participation. City residents will have the opportunity to check out a radar gun and record speeds of vehicles on residential streets and report back to the Chattanooga Division of Transportation (CDOT). This program does not issue citations or tickets based on the information; however, it does provide a tool to educate citizens about speed limits in neighborhoods and raise awareness of the impact that speeding has on our communities.

Citizens who wish to participate in the program can make a 311 request or contact Ben Harmon at 423-643-5952.
