05-22-14 Chattanooga Fire Department Offers Grilling Safety Tips
As Memorial Day Weekend approaches, kicking off the unofficial start of summer, backyard chefs everywhere are dusting off their grills, eager to spring into the long-awaited barbeque season. This summer, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recommends that grillers pay particular attention to safety, especially in June and July, when home fires involving grilling accidents occur most often.
05-08-14 Candle Linked to Morning House Fire
A family in Lookout Valley was using a candle for light this morning and the result was a house fire. The Chattanooga Fire Department received the alarm at 6:35 a.m. and responded to 3613 Kellys Ferry Road with four fire companies.
05-03-14 Duplex Fire Leaves Elderly Woman Homeless
No injuries were reported in connection with a duplex fire in Hixson this afternoon, but the blaze left a 74-year-old woman temporarily without a home.
05-01-14 Cigarette Butts Linked to Afternoon Apartment Fire
Chattanooga firefighters rushed to a fire at the Courts at Waterford at 6220 Shallowford Road around 2:30 this afternoon. The fire was located on the balcony of Apartment 390.
04-30-14 Vacant House Fire Under Investigation
Chattanooga firefighters responded to a house fire at 2217 Davenport Street around 6:00 Tuesday night. Lt. Wadie Suttles with Engine 4 said light smoke was showing from the left rear door when the first firefighters arrived on the scene.
