Animals Rescued From St. Elmo House Fire

Jump to:

CFD worked a house fire Thursday at 3 AM in St. Elmo in the 4400 block of Tennessee Avenue. Quint 14, Squad 20, Quint 1, Ladder 1 and Squad 1 responded to the scene.

Quint 14 was the first unit to arrive and reported light smoke showing. They found a small fire in the basement and a quick attack was initiated to get the fire out.

One dog and four chicks were saved. Everyone else was already out of the home. The cause of the fire was determined to be a heat lamp left on near a plastic tote filled with wood chips where the residents were keeping the chicks warm.
