Blue Shift Firefighters Honored For Bravery, Hard Work

Members of the Chattanooga Fire Department's Blue Shift have been recognized for life-saving actions (both on-duty and off-duty) and for superior job performance!

Firefighter Jordan Middlebrooks (Engine 4 Blue) received a Life-Saving Medal. On May 25, 2019, he responded to a residential structure fire with reported entrapment. Upon arrival, crews took immediate action and a primary search was conducted. The victim was quickly located and removed from the structure. The patient ultimately survived.

Lt. Mack Ridge and Firefighter Cameron McCullough (Quint 14 Blue) received Life-Saving Medals. On April 13, 2019, they responded to a reported party having difficulty breathing. Upon arrival, the patient quickly decompensated. Responders took immediate action and finding the patient pulseless, began CPR. Eventually, the patient was loaded for transport with responders riding in to assist HCEMS. The patient ultimately survived.

Firefighter Tony Yarber and Senior Firefighter Danny Nelson (Quint 21 Blue) received Medals of Valor. On December 19, 2019, they responded to a reported structure fire with confirmed entrapment. Upon arriving on scene with heavy smoke conditions, a primary search was started. Ultimately, the victim was located and retrieved by searching firefighters. They were able to get the victim out, meeting other responders on the way.

Captain Robert Roark (Quint 10 Blue) received a Letter of Commendation for his superior performance while serving as an officer over a period of time in 2019. His professionalism and diligence in determining precise calculations of personal time off resulted in 22 firefighters receiving accurate leave.

Senior Firefighter Tiffany Bird (Quint 8 Blue) received a Life-Saving Medal. While off-duty on November 25, 2019, she helped an unconscious party. She quickly assessed and treated the victim to the best of her abilities using an on-site AED and performing CPR with another citizen. By the time fire department personnel arrived, the patient had regained a pulse. Her quick actions saved the patient’s life!
