CFD & CPD Work To Save Several People From House Fire

Jump to:

There were two adults downstairs in an apartment and adult and three children upstairs.

One of the adults in the home was able to get two children out safely.

Chattanooga police officers were first on the scene and attempted to go inside the house to locate a third child, but the situation was too dangerous.

Firefighters made entry and did an initial search and fire suppression looking for the child. Crews located him and brought him out.

Several people were transported to the hospital.

Their conditions are not known.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Ladder 1, Quint 14, Engine 9, Engine 5, Squad 1, Squad 20, and Battalion 1, 3, 2 responded, along with the Chattanooga Police Department and Hamilton County EMS Medic 5, 9, 10, 13.

A second alarm was called to bring additional companies to the scene due to someone being trapped inside the home. Mutual aid assisted with companies from East Ridge and Red Bank.

Red Cross is providing assistance to those impacted.

“Police made a valiant effort in an attempt to rescue one of the children. Our crews also acted fast to get everyone out. CPD and CFD assisted each other in pulling the victims out of the fire. It was great work by everyone involved,” said Chattanooga Fire Chief Phil Hyman.
