Duplex Blaze Sends Infant To Hospital

Jump to:

CFD is investigating a house fire in the 700 block of Curve Street in North Chattanooga that sent a baby to the hospital.

We got the call around 12:10 pm Tuesday.

When crews arrived, heavy smoke was coming from the unit on the right side of the duplex.

Firefighters started to attack the flames, which had moved to the attic.

The residents (mother, father and two children) got out, but an infant suffered minor burns and was taken to the hospital.

It took about 70 minutes to fully extinguish the blaze.

CFD also worked to protect the unit on the other side of the duplex.

Multiple companies were on scene. The impacted unit suffered extensive damage.

Investigators say it appears the fire started in one of the bedrooms and they believe it was accidental. It is still under investigation.
